Heat Energy Rating 2.0

The Heat Energy Rating (HER) of a dwelling is a measure of the annual energy output required from the appliance or appliances that provide space and water heating, based on standardised room temperatures, hot water usage, and operating conditions.

The Heat Energy Rating software, which is Excel-based, has been developed to assist those designing new buildings in assessing compliance with the Building Regulations 2002 Technical Guidance Document L: Conservation of Fuel and Energy — Dwellings.

It is provided to support completion of the standard calculation worksheet outlined in the regulations, titled “Dwellings — Assessment of Compliance on Basis of Heat Energy Rating”. Heat Energy Rating is one of three options available for complying with Building Regulations 1997 Technical Guidance Document Part L: Conservation of Fuel and Energy.
