Section 10(2) of the Sustainable Energy Act 2002 states that ‘The Board shall direct the functions of Sustainable Energy Ireland in accordance with this Act and shall satisfy itself as to the adequacy of the systems in place for that purpose and shall keep under review the performance of Sustainable Energy Ireland.’ This requires the Board to take a proactive approach to the delivery of Sustainable Energy Ireland’s remit, to provide leadership, and to focus on organisational activities, including strategic direction and planning, management and control of risk, financial and operational control.
